Women’s Leadership Initiative's Power-of-the-Purse Event

Join us for a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception and Handbag Market featuring local and not-so-local artisans and vendors.  Enjoy shopping to music by ‘Bluzin’ featuring one of WLI’s members – Beverly Conklin.

There will be a raffle of three designer handbags.

We will also have a short program to give attendees an update on how The Women’s Leadership Initiative members are using the ‘power of their purses’ to improve the lives of women and children in the Lehigh Valley.  While the initial signature project of the group is the provision of educational scholarships and mentoring for women working in local childcare/daycare centers, the founding principle of the Initiative is recognition of women as leadership givers and acceptance of responsibility  for determining how those funds are used.  New members, new ideas and new passion are welcome.

Other Details:  The event is open to the public.  There is a $40 admission fee.  Parking is available immediately adjacent to the reception.

General information:

Women’s Leadership Initiative of the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (WLI) is an independent organization of women who donate their own funds and work to raise additional funds for projects to benefit women and children in the Lehigh Valley.  While operating under the umbrella of the United Way, the group determines independently how those funds are to be spent.   WLI’s initial signature project funds educational scholarships for women working in day care centers, benefitting the scholarship recipients, the day care centers where they work, and, most important, the children under their care.
